This Teriyaki Grilled Chicken with our go-to teriyaki sauce that's great on chicken, beef, or fish.
This Teriyaki Grilled Chicken is infused with a savory flavor from the soy sauce and sweetness from the brown sugar and honey. It takes only a few minutes to prepare the marinade and then you can toss it in the fridge until you're ready to cook.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED (scroll to full ingredient list)
Chicken thighs
Canola oil
Garlic
Low-sodium soy sauce
Rice vinegar
Onion powder
Brown sugar
Honey
Sesame seed oil
Fresh ginger
Green onions
Sesame seeds
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1: MARINADE
Add the garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, water, onion powder, brown sugar, honey, oils, and ginger to a medium bowl and mix.
Set aside about 1/3 C of the marinade for serving.
Add the chicken to the bowl or transfer the chicken and marinade to a gallon ZipLoc bag and fully coat the chicken in the marinade.
Refrigerate up to 24 hours, or at least 1 hour.
STEP 2: GRILL
Grill over medium heat, flipping occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 170F (about 10 minutes).
Alternatively, the chicken can be cooked at 400F for 12-15 minutes in an air fryer or 25-30 minutes in the oven. Give the chicken a flip halfway through.
STEP 3: SERVE
Top with remaining sauce, sesame seeds, and sliced green onions and serve.

2 lbs chicken thighs
1/4 C water
2/3 C low-sodium soy sauce
1/3 C canola oil
4 TBSP honey
2 TBSP brown sugar
2 tsp onion powder
3 cloves garlic, minced (15g)
1/2 TBSP fresh ginger, grated (12g)
1.5 tsp sesame oil
1.5 TBSP rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame seeds
2 green onions, sliced
