Mom's Lasagna

Mom's Lasagna is a family favorite. An incredibly delicious comfort dish that will fill your home with a mouth-watering aroma and have you feeling nostalgic. A great meal to prep ahead and serve at your next get-together.

 


Delicious layers of melted cheese between tender noodles and rich savory beef sauce made with fresh garlic and basil. This dish will always fill me with amazing memories of sitting around the dinner table with my family.





 

 

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1: BEEF SAUCE
  • To a deep pan, add the ground beef and cook until browned, then drain.

  • Add in the garlic, parsley, basil, tomatoes, tomato paste, and salt.

  • Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.

STEP 2: PASTA
  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add in the noodles. Cook until al dente, then drain and rinse.

STEP 3: CHEESE LAYER
  • Beat the eggs, then add the cottage cheese, parmesan, parsley, pepper, and salt.

STEP 4: BUILD
  • Build the lasagna in a baking dish with a layer of noodles, then the cheese layer, then mozzarella, then the beef sauce. Repeat 2 additional times finishing with a layer of mozzarella.

STEP 5: BAKE
  • Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes.

  • Optional - broil for the last few minutes until the cheese begins to brown.




 


 

INGREDIENTS

Makes 4-5 servings

MOM'S LASAGNA

  • 10 oz lasagna noodles

  • 3/4 lb mozzarella cheese, shredded

BEEF SAUCE

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 TBSP parsley

  • 1 TBSP basil

  • 1 lb can tomatoes (2 cups)

  • 2, 6 oz cans tomato paste

  • Salt to taste

CHEESE LAYER

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 2 cups ricotta or cottage cheese

  • ½ C parmesan cheese, shredded

  • 2 TBSP parsley

  • ½ tsp pepper

  • Salt to taste
